The Research Specialist will work toward increasing the availability of sensitive eDNA assays for target TEP groups. The Research Specialist will independently supervise all student lab assistants. The position will also be leading and performing DNA extraction and purification as well as preparation of DNA sequencing. The position will also be expected to lead and maintain all laboratory safety protocols.
Minimum Education Required
Masters degree in biology, molecular ecology, or related field.
Additional Education Desired
PhD preferred.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in biology, molecular ecology, or related field; 5 years of experience with molecular genetics research, laboratory management, project management, and supervision of students.
Job Responsibilities

DNA extraction and purification, optimization of new DNA extraction protocols PCR, preparation for DNA sequencing

Supervision of undergraduate student assistants, data analysis, review of relevant literature, and manuscript writing, and maintaining laboratory safety protocols

Other duties as assigned
This is a part-time, fixed-term position for one year. The appointment may be renewed annually for up to three years, contingent upon mutual agreement between the supervisor and the employee and the continued availability of grant funding.
