School Psychologist

Qualifications:
1. Masters Degree or higher in School Psychology .
2. Colorado Department of Education License with an endorsement as a School Psychologist.
3. Three years of experience in a school setting preferred.

Job Summary:
School Psychologists are essential members of the special education team. They provide comprehensive evaluations as well as psycho-educational services to students attending PPBOCES member and/or associate member schools.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to choose, administer, and interpret appropriate psycho educational assessments.
2. Provide appropriate feedback to special education team regarding the results and analysis of psycho educational assessment tools.
3. Analyze and use results from multiple sources or assessments in decision making regarding students in the Special Education referral process. This includes the ability to interpret data with goal of determining whether students meet criteria for special education based on the Colorado’s Exceptional Children’s Educational Act (ECEA).
4. Analyze and provide feedback regarding progress-monitoring data collected during the Response to Intervention (RtI) process including the ability to calculate a student’s gap from peers as well as rate of growth within an intervention.
5. Utilize technology such as Microsoft Excel to organize data. Possess familiarity with data warehouse systems. Ability to navigate software designed for the writing of IEPs.
6. Consultation regarding behavioral/instructional strategies, program development, staff development, best educational practices and current research findings.
7. Ensure due process rights and procedures across the Pikes Peak BOCES. Serve as a Director Designee in IEP and Eligibility team meetings.
8. Recommend, implement or monitor appropriate interventions for students with social, emotional and behavioral needs.

This is a 179-day contract position based on the PPBOCES calendar, with earned leave in accordance with Board policy. The position is based on a
40-hour work week. Salary shall be determined by education and experience in accordance with the BOCES Licensed Salary Schedule. Travel to school districts on a weekly basis is required. Contracts are on an annual basis and subject to renewal or nonrenewal at the discretion of the Board.

Working Conditions: 

  • Talking and hearing, walking, standing or bending is frequently required 

  • Reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping or kneeling is also required

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds 

  • Travel to assigned job site(s) requires driving. Employee may be asked to drive to any member district at any time using personal or BOCES vehicle. Reimbursement is in accordance with board policy. 

  • All required license(s) must be maintained in an active status without suspension or revocation throughout employment. 

  • Any employee may be required to stay at or return to work during meetings and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the meeting and/or emergency.
