A privately held organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead hands-on corporate accounting and financial reporting activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety across the accounting function and wants to stay close to the numbers while also improving processes and partnering with leadership. The Accounting Manager will work closely with senior finance leadership to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and efficient close cycles.
Role FocusThis position is well-balanced across core accounting functions, with responsibilities approximately split as follows:
25% Accounts Receivable
25% Accounts Payable
25% General Ledger Accounting
25% Financial Reporting & Analysis
Own day-to-day corporate accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close.
Maintain and manage one or more corporate general ledgers with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and internal management reports.
Manage accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany activity.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management in collaboration with finance leadership.
Review invoices and track costs related to early-stage or pre-development projects.
Maintain detailed records related to corporate assets and specialized company activities.
Develop, document, and refine accounting policies and procedures to strengthen consistency and internal controls.
Assist with tax compliance by preparing schedules, workpapers, and supporting documentation for external providers.
Support financial analysis, special projects, and ad hoc reporting as business needs evolve.
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field preferred (or equivalent professional experience).
Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; exposure to real estate or asset-intensive environments is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Strong general ledger and close process experience
Solid understanding of accrual-based accounting and financial reporting
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
Experience with mid-market accounting systems (construction or real estate platforms a plus)
Soft Skills:
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Clear communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally
