The R&D Associate Chemist will work in the Product and Process team on simplification and testing raw materials. The associate chemist will be accountable for routine experiments, recording results, and compiling results into a report presenting conclusions. The associate chemist will be expected to be able to support both internal and external customers with supervision. This position will be based in the Grove City Powder site.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Companys staff, employees, and business relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform analyses, tests, and develop new or updated formulas.
Operate lab scale extruder:
o Will be trained to operate lab scale extruder to prepare samples
o Must be comfortable around machinery
Demonstrates knowledge of basic computer skills
o Upkeeps Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) to document all formulation, processes, and testing data
o May use Microsoft Work/Excel/other software programs to record and report data

Demonstrates ability to manage time efficiently
o Work with manager, Chemists and/or Senior Colorists to understand project needs and priorities.
o Maintains clean work areas and participates in Housekeeping and Safety programs as required

Demonstrate knowledge of the raw materials, instruments, and testing in coatings.
Prepare reports, and present clear, accurate and timely project progress updates to stakeholders
Performs sample preparation and testing according to set standards
Understands and follows all Work Instructions, SOPs and ITMs after being trained and signed off to use equipment
Complies with all safety regulations
Follows all company and site safety rules, as well as safety rules specific to the powder lab

QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1 year of coatings-specific industry experience
Proficiency in coatings testing equipment.
Proficiency in running lab scale extruder.

Travel Requirements: 10%

This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa.

Successful candidate will be required to sign an Employee Restrictive Covenant Agreement where permitted by law.
