Our client is a small animal practice seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their team in Decatur, Alabama. The practice welcomes veterinarians of all experience levels, offering strong mentorship for new graduates and full support for experienced clinicians pursuing specific areas of interest. The clinic treats companion animals and is known for its warm, "homey" environment, providing a comfortable and family-like experience for both clients and their pets.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:00pm and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The final appointment of the day is scheduled at 4:10pm, supporting a healthy work-life balance. The hospital is open to both full time and part time applicants.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will examine and treat companion animals to diagnose and manage medical conditions, interpret diagnostic results, advise pet owners on preventative care, and perform surgical procedures, including spay and neuter surgeries and other specialized surgeries. Dentistry, radiology, end-of-life care, and general wellness support are core components of the clinical caseload. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant policies. The role is suitable for veterinarians of any experience level, from new graduates seeking mentorship to experienced doctors wishing to advance their skills in surgery and dentistry.
Practice Details
The practice operates from a converted house, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere with three exam rooms, a dedicated surgery suite, and on-site grooming and boarding facilities. The clinic is equipped with in-house laboratory machines, digital radiography, ultrasound, and a range of surgical capabilities including ophthalmic, orthopaedic, and specialized procedures. The caseload encompasses routine wellness care, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, radiology, ultrasound, and end-of-life services. The team culture is described as friendly, supportive, and family-oriented, with a strong emphasis on providing quality care in a warm and approachable environment.
Team
The practice is staffed by two doctors supported by a skilled and compassionate team of support staff. The environment encourages collaboration, mentorship, and a positive, family-like workplace culture.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
