2026 Camp Season

Work up to 40 hours per week from June 8-July 31

With the possibility to work Extended Camp Weeks through August 14

Typical working hours during camp season are Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm, but may vary slightly

Mandatory Assistant Supervisor Training Dates: April 26 & May 3 (PAID!)

Mandatory All-Staff Training Dates: June 2-5 (PAID!)

Examples of Duties

Duties of Assistant Camp Supervisors of Sports & Games include, but are not limited to:

Sports & Games Program Leadership

  • Develop and deliver engaging sports and games programs that are age and ability appropriate.
  • Write lesson plans that meet camp goals and provide variety, creativity and skill development.
  • Adapt activities for different ability levels, making the best use of camp facilities and equipment.
  • Evaluate program success and make improvements as needed.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure safety and well-being of campers and staff in all activities.
  • Follow and enforce all safety rules and camp policies.
  • Maintain camper discipline in a respectful, age-appropriate way that supports camp objectives and promotes a positive environment.
  • Conduct daily safety and cleanliness checks of program areas and equipment.
  • Keep areas free of hazards and maintain equipment in good repair.

Staff Support & Training

  • Assist in the delivery of staff training and help ensure staff understand their program responsibilities.
  • Serve as a role model for counselors in professionalism, energy and inclusion.
  • Work closely with the Camp Supervisor, counselors and full-time staff to deliver high-quality activities.
  • Communicate program or camper concerns promptly to the Camp Supervisor and/or Camps Program Coordinator.

Camper Engagement & Development

  • Promote teamwork, confidence and skill development through sports and games.
  • Support campers in building friendships, independence and self-esteem.
  • Encourage inclusion so every camper feels welcomed and involved.
  • Involve campers in planning aspects of their camp experience.

Collaboration & Participation

  • Actively assist in all program areas, including field trips, swimming, all-camp events, Arts & Crafts, Logistics and Outdoor Education.
  • Participate in all scheduled activities with enthusiasm.
  • Support the overall camp experience by working cooperatively with other staff.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to ensure a safe, fun and positive camp environment.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of college course work in recreation, education or a related field; OR three (3) or more years of teaching experience in Sports and/or Physical Education
  • Availability to attend all mandatory training dates
  • Ability and experience to lead and supervise others (campers and camp counselors)
  • Willingness to take direction from supervisors, as well as work independently to fulfill responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree in recreation, education or a related field; OR five (5) or more years of teaching experience in Sports and/or Physical Education
  • One (1) or more year of classroom teaching experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for occasional facility/operational/safety needs
  • Ability to remain active or on your feet for the length of a camp shift
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment in performing essential functions of work
  • Camp takes place in both indoor and outdoor settings, with frequent exposure to summer weather conditions
