Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a full-service veterinary medical facility located in South Miami, FL, seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian to join their busy small animal and exotics practice. The hospital treats approximately 60% exotic pets and 40% cats and dogs, offering a unique caseload and the opportunity to practice advanced veterinary medicine in a diverse environment.
Working Hours / Rota
Doctors currently work four days per week on 10-hour shifts, with the hospital closed on Sundays. This is a full-time role within a supportive schedule designed to promote work-life balance.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will provide high-quality clinical care across wellness, preventive medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, and advanced surgical procedures. The role is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, offering the chance to develop clinical expertise while working with a wide variety of species ranging from mice to primates.
Practice Details
The hospital is well-equipped with digital radiology, ultrasound, digital dental radiographs, oxygen cages, and incubators. Mobile CT and ultrasound services are also available onsite for exotic patients. A brand-new, 7,000 sq. ft. hospital designed specifically with exotics in mind is under construction and scheduled to open next year, further enhancing the facilities. Services offered are wide-ranging, including advanced dental care, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, laser therapy, endoscopy, preventive care, alternative medicine, wellness packages, diagnostics, and hospitalization.
Team
The practice currently has three DVMs working daily, with plans to expand to four to five as the new hospital opens. Each doctor is supported by two experienced veterinary assistants, and the wider technician team is highly skilled and particularly knowledgeable in exotic medicine. The hospital maintains a collaborative, team-oriented culture, with strong partnerships in the local community and with rescue groups.
