Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Elicitation: Conduct extensive interviews with business users, gather requirements, and reverse-engineer workflows and functionality from legacy systems that have minimal documentation.
- Technical Analysis: Apply strong analytical skills to reverse-engineer COBOL program logic (specifically AS/400 applications) and summarize system functionality for validation and sign-off.
- Documentation: Create clear, detailed functional specifications , process flows, and documentation packages (using Visio and SharePoint ) for developers building new Java-based screens.
- Project Management Support: Maintain organized repositories of documentation, revise and update detailed project plans in MS Project , run status meetings, and track deliverables for multi-phase technology modernization initiatives.
- Stakeholder Communication: Produce executive-level summaries for senior leadership (e.g., CIO) and detailed status reports for IT managers. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical business stakeholders.
- Coordination: Collaborate closely with developers to clarify requirements and ensure new functionality aligns with business needs, while managing competing priorities and adapting plans as risks emerge.
