Talent Acquisition is seeking a TA/Background Checks Coordinator. The Background Check Coordinator plays a vital role in safeguarding the integrity of The Ohio State University community, which includes employees, students, volunteers, guests, faculty, and staff. This position ensures compliance with university policies, state and federal regulations, and legal standards while managing an efficient and timely background check process.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, values-driven professional to make a meaningful impact within the Office of Human Resources. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site and remote flexibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Background Check Administration (80%)
Initiate track and process background checks for staff, faculty, student employees, students, volunteers, and guests through online vendor systems (First Advantage and Sterling Talent Solutions)
Administer BCI/FBI fingerprinting system and maintain compliance with all legal requirements
Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, providing clear and timely information.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with vendors to ensure smooth processing.
Collaborate closely with college program administrators and 4-H programs to coordinate seamless background screening processes.
Training and Process Standardization (10%)
Develop and deliver training on background check policies and procedures for internal clients and university stakeholders.
Document and standardize background check processes for consistency and compliance.
Process Improvement (10%)
Participate in team projects aimed at enhancing and improving the overall background check experience
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
One year of experience in working with background checks or in human resources.

Knowledge of background check processes and systems.
Familiarity with Workday.
Experience in customer service environment.
Ability to solve problems in a dynamic environment.
Proficient in written and oral communications
Detail-oriented and comfortable with a high volume of work.
