Job Description

Come join our team!

Valley Lo Club is searching for a Banquet Sous Chef who’s passionate, driven, and thrives in a collaborative, high-energy environment. If you love food, people, and bringing ideas to life, this could be your next great adventure. Tucked away on a beautiful 28-acre lake, Valley Lo Club is a year-round vacation retreat with a 40+ year history of offering superior dining and recreational opportunities.

Who We Are

At Valley Lo Club, we’re all about creating exceptional dining experiences — from elegant weddings to fun summer events, family gatherings, wine fests, and our legendary Independence Day 4th celebration. Our culinary team takes pride in quality, care, and detail in every dish we serve.

What Makes This Role Great

  • This is your opportunity to have real impact, share your ideas, and lead with independence and creativity.
  • We provide a dynamic, supportive environment.
  • You’ll experience a variety of happenings — from formal banquets to family events and seasonal menus.
  • We have a talented, tight-knit team that’s passionate about hospitality and excellence.

What You’ll Do

  • Prep, cook, and execute all banquet and event menus with precision and consistency.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Sous Chef and front-of-house teams to deliver seamless events, coordinating the preparation and plating, to ensure quality.
  • Support large-scale member functions, including holidays, Wine Fest, Kid’s Camp, and Independence Day celebrations.
  • Ensure all ingredients are efficiently ordered, received, and maintained per policies, par levels, and storage considerations. Manage costs.
  • Keep our banquet kitchen organized, safe, and running efficiently.
  • Be flexible and dependable — sometimes that means early mornings or later nights depending on events.
  • Use your creativity while staying current with trends to develop new menu concepts; and maintain recipes.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and organization.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma. Culinary degree preferred.
  • Fluent in English and strong communication skills overall.
  • 3+ years of experience in all phases and procedures of banquet food prep and kitchen operations; club or private event setting preferred.
  • Awareness of related hazards and ability to follow all safety processes.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills — a great teammate and positive leader without ego.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative — we don’t micromanage here.
  • Honest, consistent, focused, and detail-oriented.
  • Certifications:  Food Allergen Safety, Food Handler, and Sanitation (or willing to obtain within 30 days).
  • Familiar with P.O.S. systems.
  • Must have worked with all kitchen tools/equipment and have superb knife skills.
  • Natural problem solver who keeps calm and professional under pressure.
  • Must meet all physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, including regularly lifting and pushing or pulling 35 or more lbs., and occasionally lifting and pushing or pulling up to 60 lbs. May work in sun, hot/humid situations, noise, etc.—a typical environment for this role.

Apply today with your résumé and a brief cover letter describing your experience, passion for hospitality, and leadership style.

Let’s make something extraordinary together!

Valley Lo Club is an EOE.
