The Hospital of Central Connecticut (THOCC)
A 414-bed, 32-bassinet, acute-care community teaching hospital with campuses in New Britain and Southington. The hospital was created with the 2006 merger of the former New Britain General and Bradley Memorial hospitals. Affiliated with the University of Connecticut School Of Medicine, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery and a wide variety of specialties.
Established in 1988, the Hospital of Central Connecticut's Sleep Disorders Center provides diagnostic services and treatment for patients with all types of sleep disorders. Our multidisciplinary team includes, Board-certified Sleep Disorders Center physicians, registered technologists, specialists from neurology, and pulmonary medicine. At the Hospital of Central Connecticut's Sleep Disorder Center, the rooms are like a comfortable bedroom. The center is equipped with private rooms that are sound, and light controlled with individual temperature controls.
Hand Center, HOCC
In collaboration with the Hand Center Surgical Staff, this role is responsible for providing skilled health care to patients in a hospital setting, assisting patients with upper extremity, wrist and hand symptoms or diagnoses. The role provides evaluation, treatment and coordination of care. Scope of responsibility is characterized by use of trained skills to assess, plan, evaluate and treat utilizing appropriate practices, standards, protocols and guidelines
Areas of Responsibility
Provides direct care through consultations, follow ups and post operative visits including assessment, workups, triage, and other patient care activities
Obtains and documents health history, performs and documents physical exam, and orders and interprets diagnostic tests
Provides counseling to patients regarding diagnosis and expected course of treatment
Collects, organizes, records, and discusses data as appropriate and uses sound clinical judgment based in best practice standards and evidenced based on medicine
Prescribes pharmaceuticals according to patient needs and conducts appropriate patient follow-up & outreach
Schedule: Monday Friday 8-4:30* no holidays, no weekends, with exception of call coverage

Qualifications
Advanced Practitioner Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Masters program
Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut
Certification, or eligible to be certified, as National Board Certification as an Ambulatory Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
2 years working as an Advanced Practitioner with Hand and Wrist
Bilingual preferred, but not required
