Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

We're seeking a Lead Veterinary Assistant with at least two years of leadership experience to join our dedicated and collaborative team. In this role, you'll play a vital part not only in patient care but also in mentoring and leading our team of veterinary assistants and technicians to deliver top-notch service.

What You'll Do:

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading by example in daily technical duties and patient care

  • Providing guidance, support, and training to the technician and assistant team

  • Triage of incoming patients and effective pet restraint

  • Collection and analysis of lab samples

  • Diagnostic imaging and anesthetic monitoring

  • Surgical prep and assistance

  • Administering medications and managing treatment plans

  • Nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients

  • Communicating clearly and compassionately with clients about treatment plans and patient care

  • Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records

  • Collaborating with doctors to anticipate their needs and ensure smooth workflows

    Please note: This position may involve exposure to unpleasant odors, noises, animal waste, bites/scratches, and contagious diseases.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A seasoned Lead Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-2 years of leadership experience

  • Minimum of two years' experience as a veterinary assistant

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate others

  • Technical proficiency in all areas including exam rooms, surgery, dentals, treatment/ICU

  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to patient care

  • Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to practicing low-stress handling techniques
