General Laborer

The General Laborer supports all phases of fiberoptic underground construction including drilling, trenching, potholing, conduit placement, backfilling, restoration, and equipment support. This role is essential to maintaining crew productivity and safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist drill operator and locator with jobsite setup and daily tasks.

• Perform potholing/daylighting using vacuum excavation equipment.

• Use hand tools, shovels, jackhammers, compactors, and small machinery.

• Support conduit installation, handhole placement, backfilling, and compaction.

• Load/unload materials, tools, and equipment.

• Maintain clean and organized jobsite conditions.

• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and instructions from supervisors.

• Assist with drilling fluid mixing, site cleanup, and debris removal.

• Perform traffic control/flagging when needed.

• Support restoration activities including asphalt patching, concrete work, landscaping, and utility marking.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in construction preferred; telecom or utility experience is a plus.

• Ability to use hand tools, jackhammers, and light machinery.

• Ability to lift 75 lbs and work outdoors for extended periods.

• Valid driver’s license preferred.

• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a crew.
