Nexus Specialty Inc., a division of The Nexus Group is seeking an Associate Underwriter to join our growing team in San Diego!

The Associate Underwriter will work one-on-one with Fine Art department Head to aid in all aspects of the development of the Fine Art program including intake of accounts, communications with brokers, marketing, underwriting, rating. Modeling / CAT risk analysis and management of all files related to an account.

How You Will Contribute :

• Work with Fine Art head on new and renewal risks.
• Learn and develop technical knowledge of Fine Art underwriting concepts, policy wording, workflow and policy administration.
• Communicate with brokers on new and renewal accounts and follow up on binding orders/conditions.
• Process automatic renewal quotes and binding requests.
• Underwrite small business renewal accounts with Head underwriter oversight.
• Analyze new and renewal accounts based on guidelines, claims experience and utilize pricing/rate change tools.
• Comply with underwriting documentation requirements and adhere to underwriting guidelines.
• Attend and participate in broker calls and marketing visits.
• Contributes to special projects as assigned.

Skills & Experience to b e Successful:

• Bachelor's degree - completed coursework toward an insurance or risk management degree a plus.
• Some experience with Fine Art or Inland Marine insurance preferred.
• Proficient at MS Office.
• Detail oriented and interested in a career in insurance underwriting.
• Strong organization and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay Range

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
