General Practice Veterinarian (Veterinarian)

Introduction
Our client is a privately owned, family-run companion animal hospital located in historic Batavia, Ohio. This hospital is seeking a personable and dedicated veterinarian to join their established practice. Since opening in 2004, this independent clinic has built a strong reputation for high-quality veterinary care with a focus on client education and disease prevention. They are hiring for a veterinarian to care for cats, dogs, and some pocket pets. The practice is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates and fosters a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment.

Working Hours / Rota
Operating hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Wednesday from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm. The role includes working every other Saturday. Surgery is typically performed in the mornings on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, followed by appointments. No surgeries are scheduled on Saturdays. The schedule is highly flexible, with both full-time and part-time arrangements available. There are no after-hours or overnight emergency responsibilities.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The veterinarian will perform physical exams, diagnostics, medical, surgical, and dental procedures with an emphasis on minimizing patient stress and discomfort. Responsibilities include developing SOAP notes, client communication and education, maintaining accurate medical records, and contributing to a positive clinic environment. Areas of clinical focus include general medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dental care (including jaw disease), and preventative wellness. The position is open to both new graduates and experienced veterinarians, with strong mentorship and support provided.

Practice Details
The clinic is equipped with digital radiography, a dental unit with high/low-speed handpieces, portable ultrasound, therapy laser, EKG monitoring, in-house lab and chemistry analyzer, day-of IDEXX results, and a tens machine. The facility also offers grooming services and is introducing alternative treatment options such as acupuncture, acupressure instruction, and hydrotherapy for small dogs. The clinic has a warm, transparent culture centered on client education and integrity. Appointments average 30 minutes, ensuring personalized care.

Team
The team includes a solo practicing DVM (with occasional surgical assistance from the co-owner), a veterinary technician, three assistants, two kennel staff, one general assistant, and four administrative staff (a mix of part-time and full-time). The environment is collaborative and mentorship-focused, with an openness to developing new services based on the incoming veterinarian's interests.

Candidate Requirements

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
