Our client is a modern, design-forward veterinary hospital located in Washington, D.C., seeking a Lead Veterinarian to join their talented team at their Wharf location. Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position offering a structured yet flexible schedule. The hospital is open Monday through Thursday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with alternating Thursdays and Sundays off. The hospital is closed on Fridays and Saturdays, providing regular time for rest and personal balance. The role is divided into approximately 80% clinical work and 20% leadership responsibilities.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Lead Veterinarian will provide both clinical and operational leadership within the hospital. Responsibilities include overseeing the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate medical care; supervising and mentoring associate veterinarians; and partnering with the Operations Manager to ensure a seamless client experience. The role also involves managing scheduling, conducting team meetings, reviewing KPIs, and participating in recruitment efforts. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for guiding others while maintaining a hands-on approach to patient care.

The hospital offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services supported by advanced diagnostic and treatment technology. Services include behavior consultations, dermatology, diagnostics, oncology, oral health care, surgery, spaying and neutering, wellness exams, vaccination, senior pet care, euthanasia services, nutritional counseling, and prescription management. Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
