Location: California (Lodi, San Joaquin County & Colton, San Bernardino County)
Travel: Required between both plant locations; frequency may vary based on operational demand (weekly to monthly).
(Re-)Location: Candidate's home base can be either in Southern or Northern California, as long as they are able to travel regularly between the two plant locations.

Their team takes pride in high standards for safety, quality, and performance—and they are looking for a Quality Control Manager who will uphold and enhance these standards across all operational levels.

The Quality Control (QC) Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all steel fabrication and erection activities meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This leadership position oversees quality assurance processes across shop and field operations, ensuring conformance to project specifications, industry codes, and regulatory requirements. The QC Manager is instrumental in maintaining a company-wide culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and oversee the execution of our client’s quality assurance program, ensuring compliance with industry codes, contractual obligations, and internal standards. This is a critical leadership role responsible for managing the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) across fabrication facilities and job sites.

The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of steel fabricationAISC certification, and AWS/ICC inspection standards, as well as the ability to lead audits, resolve non-conformities, and train quality teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection and Compliance:
    Lead dimensional and visual inspections during fabrication to ensure adherence to project specifications and relevant standards such as AWS and AISC.
  • Non-Conformance Management:
    Identify and document non-conforming materials or workmanship. Collaborate with site management and shop supervisors to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Quality Assurance Program Management:
    Administer and enhance the company’s Quality Assurance Program. Maintain the QA manual to reflect current industry requirements and company policies.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Develop and manage systems for tracking quality objectives. Maintain detailed records and generate quality reports for internal teams and clients.
  • Team Leadership and Training:
    Supervise QC Inspectors, provide training and support, conduct performance evaluations, and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    Work closely with Production and Project Management teams to ensure quality procedures are followed across all projects. Foster strong relationships with client engineers, third-party inspectors, and DOT representatives.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a QA/QC leadership role within structural steel fabrication or erection, or construction
  • Strong knowledge of AISC and AWS D1.1 standards.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage quality teams in a high-production environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural steel shop and erection drawings.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
