Client Overview:

Our client, one of the largest vertically run ophthalmology administrative services organizations in the mid-Atlantic region, is seeking a Ophthalmic Technician to join their fast-paced office. With over 80 locations, our client is looking for someone with prior experience in the healthcare industry, strong customer service skills, and a desire for career progression.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$23/hr

Position Overview:

The Ophthalmic Technician supports the physician(s) in a busy practice. This full-time position involves direct patient care, clinical tasks, and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities of the Ophthalmic Technician:

  • Obtain and document patient history.
  • Perform patient work-up, including all vision testing.
  • Obtain all appropriate consent forms.
  • Set up exam rooms for physicians and clean up following procedures.
  • Stock medical supplies as needed.
  • Enter data into practice management and EMR systems.
  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms and provide education regarding procedures.
  • Oversee patient flow and review medical charts.
  • Assist physicians with miscellaneous projects and tasks.
  • Support the clinical department as needed and ensure compliance with all practice procedures and protocols.

Required Experience/Skills for the Ophthalmic Technician:

  • Knowledge of insurances and front-end billing procedures.
  • Superior customer service and friendly demeanor.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Ophthalmic Technician:

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Ophthalmology experience preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
