Director of Business Development – Remote | National Manufacturing-Focused Association

A respected national trade association serving the U.S. manufacturing sector is looking for a strategic and driven business development professional to join its leadership team. This is a remote position with flexible scheduling and the chance to shape the growth of a pivotal industry support organization.

We’re seeking someone with experience growing membership-based organizations, particularly those in industrial, technical, or manufacturing-related spaces. This role focuses on strengthening member engagement, building brand visibility, driving participation in new programs, and cultivating partnerships across the industrial supply chain.

What You’ll Do

As Director of Business Development, you’ll lead initiatives to:

  • Attract and retain members through tailored outreach and engagement strategies.

  • Expand awareness and usage of the association’s flagship online supply chain platform, transitioning into a subscription-based SaaS model in 2026.

  • Develop marketing campaigns that speak directly to manufacturers, foundries, forges, machine shops, and related industry players.

  • Deepen connections with industry partners and stakeholders to build long-term value.

  • Collaborate with technical and program staff to align commercial strategies with service development.

  • Regularly contribute to newsletters and communications, promoting programs and delivering updates to internal leadership.

This is a remote-first organization. You’ll work from your home office, with occasional travel to represent the association at trade shows, conferences, and member events.

What Success Looks Like

  • Hitting growth targets for the SaaS platform’s adoption and subscription revenue.

  • Boosting member retention and bringing new organizations into the fold.

  • Driving higher engagement across the association’s suite of benefits and services.

  • Building strong, lasting relationships with manufacturers and key partners.

What You Bring

  • Solid track record in business development, member relations, and program marketing for trade associations or similar groups.

  • Proven ability to develop and deliver compelling messaging to industrial or manufacturing audiences.

  • Comfort working independently in a virtual environment while contributing to a collaborative team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate feedback into action.

Extra Credit If You Have:

  • Experience in 501(c)6 associations or B2B membership-based organizations.

  • Background in SaaS, software sales, or online platforms—especially in the industrial space.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes like metalcasting, forging, or machining.
