SBC Industries is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laser and Press Brake Operator to join our team. This role requires the operation and maintenance of both laser cutting equipment and press brake machines to produce high-quality parts that meet our precise standards. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in metal fabrication, be self-motivated, and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate laser cutting and press brake machines, ensuring proper alignment, clearance, and adjustments for accurate production.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to verify accuracy and determine cutting and bending sequences.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, dies, and nozzles based on production requirements.
- Load, unload, and position materials accurately for cutting or bending.
- Monitor machine performance, making adjustments and performing preventive maintenance, including calibration, cleaning, minor repairs, and supply monitoring.
- Report maintenance issues to management and collaborate on equipment resolutions.
- Inspect finished products for quality, separating cut parts from scrap, and reporting deficiencies.
- Package, stack, and organize finished products according to schedules and specifications.
- Operate forklifts to move materials and parts as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace, assisting where necessary within the warehouse. Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Perform other duties to support the company’s vision, mission, and values.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
- 2+ years of laser and press brake machine setup experience in a sheet metal job shop required.
- Proficiency in TruTops Boost and SolidWorks is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints and customer samples for prototype production.
- Knowledge of different bending techniques and applications, along with the ability to calculate bend allowances, angles, and dimensions.
- Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and basic mechanical/math skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in workmanship, with the ability to identify defects and take corrective action.
- Reliable attendance and strong time management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and alternate between sitting, standing, and walking during the shift.
- Forklift operation experience or willing to undergo training.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. English proficiency required; bilingual candidates are a plus.
- Certifications such as CPT, NIMS, or manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Trumpf, Amada, Cincinnati) preferred.
