Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The position involves engaging in HVAC and plumbing system design, performing detailed design computations, and participating in fieldwork activities. You will be responsible for collaborating across various disciplines to achieve coordinated designs and ensure the successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC and plumbing systems, including performing load calculations, air and piping distribution, and sizing equipment.
  • Select appropriate equipment and prepare specifications.
  • Conduct fieldwork for design investigation and construction observation.
  • Prepare design layouts and schematics for commercial and industrial mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, including architectural, electrical, and structural teams.
  • Review the work of others to ensure design integrity and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Perform on-site investigations to verify existing conditions.
  • Develop familiarity with and apply current mechanical codes and standards.
  • Build relationships with personnel from other disciplines and manufacturing sales representatives.
  • Prepare general and mechanical specifications.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • At least 2 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering calculations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer/Designer or Electrical Engineer/Designer for building systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit in producing construction documents for commercial or retail building projects.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with some flexibility and potential for overtime. The team in Columbus consists of one electrical P.E., three mechanical P.E.s, and one contractor, totaling five people including the P.E.s. The company offers a 401(k) plan with a 3% Safe Harbor contribution, full health insurance coverage under the Medical Mutual SuperMed PPO Network, and paid time off including vacations and holidays.
