Our client, a leading national retailer headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, is seeking a skilled Lead Analyst of Financial Reporting to join their high-performing Finance team.

This organization places a strong emphasis on data-driven strategy, and the Finance team plays a critical role in that success—owning forecasting, in-season analysis, and cross-functional reporting. They ensure every business unit—from sales to operations—has clear, accurate, and timely financial information to guide key decisions and drive sustainable growth.

The Role: Lead Analyst, Financial Reporting

This is a high-visibility position with exposure across the business. The Lead Analyst will be responsible for delivering external financial reports that meet regulatory standards, while also supporting technical accounting reviews and influencing key reporting processes.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to take ownership of complex reporting tasks that impact senior leadership, investor relations, and compliance efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual external financial reports (10-Q, 10-K), including footnotes and MD&A, in line with US GAAP and SEC standards.

  • Prepare statutory financial statements for select subsidiaries and benefit plans in coordination with auditors.

  • Evaluate emerging accounting standards and draft clear technical memos to inform leadership.

  • Maintain and update internal accounting policy documentation.

  • Partner with internal teams to analyze adjusted EBITDA for debt covenant compliance.

  • Prepare leadership materials for quarterly earnings calls and investor support.

  • Handle government surveys and regulatory reporting with accuracy.

  • Identify and execute opportunities to streamline reporting processes and improve data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting; CPA certification required.

  • 3–5 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) or corporate financial reporting.

  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and technical accounting.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, and reporting tools like Workiva or Hyperion is a plus.

  • Highly proficient in Excel; Power BI or similar tools a bonus.

  • Strong communicator with the ability to distill complex financial concepts into clear guidance.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive, deadline-oriented mindset.

This role is based out of their Phoenix corporate office. The company supports a hybrid schedule with four days in-office and one flexible remote workday per week (subject to team alignment).
