Orchid Insurance, an Arrowhead Intermediaries company, is seeking an Underwriting Tech I to join our growing team in Tampa or Vero Beach, FL.
The Underwriting Tech I is responsible for learning and developing underwriting skills in personal lines insurance. This role involves gaining proficiency in underwriting new business, renewal business, and/or inspection processes to inform risk decisions and ensure alignment with company and carrier objectives. The Underwriting Tech I will work under the guidance and mentorship of experienced underwriters to build technical skills and knowledge.
How You Will Contribute:
- Learn underwriting discipline to make determinations to approve, modify, or escalate risks based on underwriting guidelines of the carrier, with guidance and direct mentorship from experienced underwriters. 
- Build technical underwriting skills through training and hands-on learning, gaining experience in account reviews, underwriting thought processes, and file documentation, including underwriting decisions, approvals, correspondence, and follow-ups under supervision. 
- Gain knowledge of how to process underwriting referrals or other assigned work/risk reviews. 
- Provide support for team Inbox and/or Dashboard by working assigned tasks. 
- Build and maintain strong relationships with agents and clients by responding to inquiries in accordance with SOPs, ensuring clarity in communication, and delivering customer-centric solutions. 
Skills & Experience to Be Successful:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. 
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. 
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
- Strong customer service orientation. 
Preferred:
- Experience in customer service or administrative roles within the insurance industry. 
- Actively work towards obtaining relevant certifications and licenses (such as FL 2-20 license or the equivalent non-Florida resident state equivalent Property & Casualty license).
