The Senior Accountant – Consultant will play a critical role in supporting the accounting team during a transition period by managing core month-end close activities, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This position requires a hands-on professional with strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities-
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP .

Prepare and upload journal entries, ensuring appropriate documentation and approval.

Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations , investigating significant variances and maintaining supporting schedules.

Provide exception reports and analysis on unusual trends or results; resolve discrepancies through collaboration with internal teams.

Assist with requests from external and internal auditors , providing timely documentation and audit support.

Review departmental procedures and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.

Lead meetings with internal stakeholders to review account balances, accruals, and departmental financial activity.

Provide financial analysis and act as a liaison between Accounting, FP&A, and business units to ensure accuracy of P&L statements.

Use Microsoft Excel and AS-400 query tools to design and improve accounting models and automate reporting processes.

Support ongoing initiatives to implement new accounting technologies and streamline workflows.

Perform other ad hoc accounting and analysis duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: 5 years of accounting experience with a strong focus on month-end close and reconciliations .

Proficiency in journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Demonstrated experience working closely with FP&A teams .

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel ; experience with AS-400 or similar ERP systems preferred.

Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general ledger accounting processes.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
