Job Overview
The Commercial Landscape Foreman is an experienced and vital part of every landscape crew. This role leads a crew of 3-5 employees, performs work with knowledge and expertise at assigned residential and commercial project sites, and reports directly to the Project Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
I. Team Leadership and Management
Lead by example and provide direct supervision to a crew of 3-5 employees.
Lead the crew to install landscaping per plans and specifications on residential and commercial projects.
Train crew members on proper techniques and safety, and hold them to company standards.
Lead the crew to perform all work efficiently and safely.
Plan daily work tasks and goals in collaboration with the Project Superintendent.
Understand and strive to achieve the schedule and production goals for each project.
II. Installation and Maintenance Execution
Read plans and accurately perform layout of plant materials and hardscape components.
Perform work thoughtfully so as not to damage the work of other trades (including irrigation).
Execute General Landscaping Tasks:
Perform digging, trenching, grading, and effectively move and handle soil.
Plant trees, shrubs, ground cover, and annuals according to plan specifications.
Lay sod, mulch, and fertilize plant materials, and perform necessary hand watering.
Perform general landscape maintenance and site clean-up.
Operate Construction Equipment: Expertly operate equipment including skid steers, excavators, tractors, sod cutters, tillers, augers, trenchers, and loaders.
Use hand tools, power tools, and landscaping tools effectively.
III. Administration and Safety
Receive and verify all material shipments to the jobsite.
Complete and submit all required daily and weekly paperwork (safety sheets, equipment/vehicle inspection forms, time and production sheets, etc.).
Follow all company and OSHA safety rules and lead the crew in compliance.
Ensure the team wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
Required
Minimum 3 years of landscape experience with at least 1 year of leadership experience (Crew Leader, Foreman, etc.).
Must have experience in commercial landscaping.
Able to read plans and perform layout accurately and pass a blueprint reading assessment.
Able to communicate well verbally and in writing.
Able to take direction and work effectively with others; possess a good attitude.
Able to work 8+ hours per day, 5 days per week (overtime and weekend work may be required).
Able to work in all types of weather, including summer heat and sun.
Able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis, and perform physical tasks (stand, kneel, bend, twist, and squat) for prolonged periods.
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA 10 card holder is a plus.
Bilingual (Spanish and English) is a plus.
