International Senior Health Information Specialist

The Impact Youll Make in this Role
The International Senior Health Information Specialist is a key member of the Solventum Health Information Systems (HIS) International Business Unit, contributing advanced clinical, coding, and classification expertise to the development and implementation of Solventum solutions around the world.
This position bridges clinical knowledge, health information management, and policy insight to support the design, validation, and localization of classification systems, grouping methodologies, and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) programs. The Senior Specialist collaborates closely with our Clinical and Economic Research organization, our Consulting Services Group, international subsidiaries, and external stakeholders including health care provider organizations, ministries of health, regulators, and payers to ensure that Solventum tools align with country-specific policies, coding standards, and data quality requirements.
Acting as both a content expert and a trusted advisor, the Senior Specialist drives the adoption of Solventum classification and coding, grouping, and CDI solutions in international markets, helping healthcare systems improve documentation quality, enable fair reimbursement, and advance health system performance measurement.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Coding Expertise
Provide in-depth expertise in international coding and classification systems (e.g., ICD-10, ICD-11, SNOMED CT, DRGs, CRGs, and related Solventum grouping methodologies, but also international systems like the Australian system).
Support the localization, validation, and maintenance of Solventum classification tools to reflect national coding standards and policy requirements.
Collaborate with international regulatory and clinical experts to ensure compliance and clinical accuracy of coding and classification content.
Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI)
Lead and advise on real-world CDI initiatives and implementation projects, leveraging Solventum CDI technologies and methodologies.
Support hospitals, payers, and national agencies in designing and optimizing CDI programs that enhance documentation completeness, coding accuracy, and data-driven decision making.
Translate clinical and documentation findings into actionable insights for system improvement, payment accuracy, and outcome measurement.
Health Policy & Product Development
Analyze country-specific health policy trends, payment models, and quality frameworks to guide Solventum product development and international strategy.
Partner with health economists, clinical researchers, and software development teams to ensure clinical and statistical integrity of grouping, risk adjustment, and performance models.
Contribute to the evolution of Solventum tools supporting value-based care and health system efficiency.
Collaboration & Representation
Coordinate clinically focused work across international Solventum teams, regional subsidiaries, and global research groups.
Serve as a primary liaison for clinical and health information management questions from international clients, clinicians, and business partners.
Represent Solventum in the research and policy community through publications, presentations, and participation in international conferences.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior clinical analysts and consultants within the international team.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Advanced degree in medicine, nursing, health information management, public health, or a related healthcare discipline.
10+ years of professional experience in healthcare delivery, health information management, or consulting, including experience with health system reform or payment modernization projects.
Demonstrated expertise in ICD coding systems , case-mix/grouping methodologies (e.g., DRG, CRG, EBM, or similar) , and clinical classification logic .
Proven experience with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) implementation or advisory projects in hospital or national contexts.
Experience working with international health systems, regulatory bodies, or ministries of health.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Familiarity with Solventum classification systems and CDI solutions.
Strong analytical and communication skills, with experience interpreting clinical data and health policy requirements.
