Mother/Infant and NICU Social Worker, MSW

*8 hour shifts, Casual/Contingent

Position Purpose:

The MIU/NICU Social Worker intervenes with patients who have complex psychosocial needs, require assistance with eligibility determination for social programs and funding sources and qualify for community assistance from a variety of special funds and agencies. In addition, offers a comprehensive needs assessment of patients who have delivered babies at St. Ann's and provides appropriate resources. The MIU/NICU social worker also identifies safety and risk factors for and collaborates with local child protective service agencies when indicated.

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited program required.
  • LSW license in the State of Ohio required, LISW preferred.
  • Two years minimum of recent maternity/child health experience and knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Strong organization skills, self-directed, flexible, able to adapt to rapidly changing regulatory requirements.
  • Possesses excellent clinical assessment and analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer competency
  • Possesses effective interpersonal skills, can work across departmental boundaries, facilitates problem resolution, and maintain a professional demeanor in difficult situations.
  • Knowledge of the functional operations of utilization management, discharge planning, care coordination and transitions of care

This is a casual position and will primarily support the Mother/Infant Unit and NICU.
