Salary Range: $28.00 - $43.00 Hourly
Description
Wallace Montgomery is looking for senior technical or supervisory level Transportation Engineering Technicians to perform a variety of technical engineering tasks for construction and maintenance projects related to the Installation/Modification of Traffic Control Devices.
Specific duties will depend on job assignment and may include,
- Serve as Lead Inspector for construction and maintenance projects for the installation/modification of traffic control devices – (traffic signals, signing, lighting)
- Perform senior technical or supervisory work requiring greater technical knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Compile documents and review construction reports including CPM schedule and cost.
- Review contract documents and ensure compliance with said documents.
- Maintains records pertaining to project, prepare project reports related to the work.
- Complete as built plans.
- Document daily work activities on an Inspector’s Daily Report.
- Calculate and document quantities for work completed.
- Maintain daily photos of work progress.
- Perform material testing.
- Train and supervise lower-level field staff.
- Perform project stakeouts
- Attend Meetings as needed
Work will be performed in both office and field settings, with exposure to weather, rough terrain, and active traffic zones. Assignments may require travel across Maryland. Inspectors are required to have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation and must be available to work night shift and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of experience in technical engineering related work in traffic, construction, and material testing.
- Valid Maryland driver’s license
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Access)
- Knowledge of Traffic Control Device design, construction and operations.
- Knowledge of MDOT eMCMS system.
- Excellent communication and teamwork.
- Knowledge of Maryland High Voltage Act.
Licenses & Certifications
- Possess MDOT certifications in Erosion and Sediment Control, Temporary Traffic Control, and OSHA10.
- Obtain certifications for Field testing procedures for Concrete, Asphalt, Soils & Aggregates and Pavement Markings, and Traffic Barriers, as needed, within a specified time period.
- Possess or have ability to obtain IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level 1 within specified time frame.
