The GIS Lead will train/lead area employees in the performance of the following: computer aided drafting (AutoCAD) and Geographic Informational System (GIS) mapping function, including updating and maintaining land, address, CIS and eAM databases; preparing/providing land and utility facilities data and construction sketches to internal and external customers; assigning/issuing
addresses; verifying and suggesting street names for developments; coordinating with local government agencies, such as Shelby County E911 and Assessor's Office; and maintaining official address records for Shelby County, TN. Assign work to area employees, monitor progress, check work for accuracy, and ensure timely completion of tasks. Review and approve data and maps prior
to release. Perform all area tasks as needed.

Qualifications

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Must have a valid driver's license from state of residence.

EDUCATION

Bachelors Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Planning Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 4 years professional experience in GIS/CAD mapping and technology or Associate's Degree in areas listed above with 8 years professional experience in related field.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Must have knowledge/skills in computer-aided design drafting. Must successfully complete Placement,/Performance Exercises. Works in office majority of time; occasionally outside under good conditions. Subject to light lifting of maps/boxes, sitting for long periods of time, eye fatigue, occasionally, crouching, stooping and bending during occasional field trips and other hazardous associated with field inspections. Knowledge of global positioning system (GPS).
