Job Summary
Position oversees and delivers a full range of high-quality, patient-centered professional primary care services in an outpatient clinical setting. Exercises extensive independent judgment in clinic service delivery, staff management and strategic clinic operations. Works closely with Executive Leadership and clinic personnel in fulfilling the responsibilities of this multi-functional role. Incumbent serves as the medical subject matter expert for the organization.
Job Purpose
Position oversees clinic medical and non-medical personnel and operations, ensuring risk management and quality of care and developing and implementing all medical processes, practices and policies of clinic operations. Provides leadership and operational management of clinic and organization goals and objectives. Develops and leads the implementation, evaluation and continuity of all clinic services, operations and personnel, ensuring clinical quality, administrative efficiency and patient-centered strategy in the delivery of safe, high-quality care.

Clinical Leadership and Oversight
Oversees all clinical operations and personnel, ensuring patient care meets clinical standards and regulatory requirements. Develops and updates medical policies, procedures and practices. Monitors quality improvement initiatives and manages clinic risk and compliance. Ensures the delivery of exceptional care aligned with evidence-based practices.

Leads the recruitment, training, supervision, evaluation and discipline of clinic medical and non-medical personnel. Ensures staff meet performance goals and development objectives, communicating consistent, clear directives for meeting established care metrics. Fosters collaboration, professional development and teamwork.

Operational Efficiency and Strategic Planning
Sets the example for clinic and interorganizational collaboration on clinical operations, fiscal planning, and resource strategy. Maintains effective and timely communications across organizational departments, participating in internal and external meetings, representing the clinic and promoting the organization’s mission and services.

Patient Advocacy and Care
Provides direct patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of HIV and STI-related conditions and co-occurring health issues. Prioritizes patient care and promotes the expansion and improvement of patient care initiatives that achieve optimal outcomes and align with industry-standard best practices.

Quality Assurance and Compliance
Ensures adherence to applicable laws, regulation and accreditation standards, including HIPAA and OSHA standards. Directs and complies with internal and external auditing requirements, leading corrective action plans for the improvement of clinic quality and safety. Maintain clinic accreditation and credentialing with major insurance providers.

Minimum Education Level Required
Medical degree from an accredited institution, Board certification in internal or family medicine, active State of Florida licensure, and federal DEA certification without restrictions. HIV/AIDS certification (AAHIVS) and ACLS or BLS certifications.
Minimum Experience Level Required
Minimum eight years’ experience practicing medicine in a healthcare practice or clinical setting, minimum three years as medical director. Previous experience treating HIV/AIDS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Current credentialing with major insurance providers in Florida.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; bilingual in Spanish required.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care, specifically HIV/AIDS.
- Comprehensive knowledge of quality, safety and infection control standards and their applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, associated clinical program technology (electronic medical/health records) and vendor billing platforms and software; eCW preferred.
- Knowledge and practical application of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of specified area of expertise.
- Knowledge of healthcare practice operations including electronic health records, associated billing administration, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.)
- Self-directed and self-motivated, proactively prioritizing competing demands efficiently and independently.
- Strong leadership and team development skills including management, mentoring, training and advising clinical professionals and student teams;
- Strong project management and strategic planning skills that set clear task objectives, achieve desired outcomes, and advance program viability.

Work Environment
Physical Demands

Work may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime and evening/weekend hours in order to meet patient care demands.
Public contact position requiring clinic-appropriate apparel and use of personal protective equipment.
