Arrowhead is seeking a Property Line Team Leader to join our growing team in Ft. Wayne, IN .

The Property Line team leader operates at an advanced level of underwriting skill, keenly focused on driving the product line's profitability, growth and health (portfolio mix) through specific account underwriting, periodic portfolio review; and through coaching, training and leading technical skill development for property line underwriter(s), and the wider organization staff. The leader will work independently with periodic direction from the CUO and will operate within an assigned, advanced level of Underwriting Authority, to evaluate, qualify and rate individual property insurance applications, utilizing existing and evolving line specific risk evaluation techniques, supporting decisions through adequate documentation, in line with carriers' delegated authority. This individual is expected to maintain frequent, high-quality communications, operate with a high level of accuracy within their work product, collaborate on the development of best practices and underwriting guidance for others, and will perform periodic file reviews to confirm alignment with objectives. As a member of the CUO's leadership team, the position will promote and prioritize property line alignment with broader business goals and work management expectations. The position will influence assignment of individual submissions & accounts and will have accountability for evaluating performance and development of other property underwriter(s).

How You Will Contribute:

  • Underwrite new /renewal accounts in accordance with all applicable guidelines and procedures.

  • Conduct underwriting quality reviews in accordance with established standards.

  • Develop, coach, mentor and train teammates, particularly property underwriter(s), on proper exposure analysis, coverage form and term structure, and pricing determination.

  • Lead and contribute to the development of market strategies that involve property products.

  • Conduct evaluations of property underwriter(s) in line with their assigned duties.

  • Contribute toward the achievement of American Specialty's premium and profitability objectives.

  • Ensure effective, comprehensive best practices and underwriting guidance is recommended, developed, updated and implemented to address current and changing needs and the overall product line's performance.

  • Participate in any benchmark pricing or tool development, CAT modeling strategy, results communication and product trend analysis.

  • Collaborate on marketplace trend analysis and communicate key findings.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Client Services, Risk Services and Claims Services to meet American Specialty financial and service level objectives.

  • Monitor results to identify trends on assigned accounts and overall portfolio.

  • Develop distribution engagement practices over time that will efficiently position AS for growth.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Active Indiana Property and Casualty License.

Skills & Experience to be Successful:

  • 5+ years commercial underwriting expertise, plus comprehensive technical knowledge.

  • Strong understanding of underwriting commercial exposures and insurance coverages.

  • Sharp analytical, interpretive and evaluative thinking skills.

  • Ability to develop and attain assigned growth objectives in company's business plan while maintaining underwriting quality and client service objectives.

  • Skills to form tactical underwriting responses to identify and direct execution of business opportunities.
