Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Facility Safety Coordinator within our Environmental Dredging and Restoration Group at our Headquarters in Millersville, MD.
This position will provide an active leadership role serving as the Safety Coordinator for various projects and project sites EDR is responsible for on behalf of our clients. EDR projects generally consist of environmental dredging operations and maintenance, port terminal operation, construction, and various field monitoring and sampling activities. Primary responsibilities include providing guidance for staff regarding all MES safety policies and procedures, to include State and federal occupational safety and health laws, regulations, and standards, in coordination with the MES Safety and Compliance Group. This includes but is not limited to, drafting and updating various safety plans and programs (such as Health and Safety Plans and Job Hazard Analysis Program), monitoring and inspecting compliance with safety standards, tracking the outcomes and reporting all activities to management as well as providing corrective actions and/or improvements when needed, training a variety of staff on safety-related topics (at MES Headquarters and field sites), and attending and/or leading safety briefings. This position will act as liaison between MES Headquarters and multiple safety teams located in the Baltimore and Easternshore regions; regular travel is required to visit these sites. This position will also require safety site visits to other EDR projects that may be located throughout Maryland. In addition to these duties, this individual may be assigned administrative and management functions. Candidates must be adaptable and willing to learn new skills and tasks. Position may occasionally require evening and weekend work. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety and Health, Science or Engineering coupled with a minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial setting and a working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 for General Industry.
OR
Associate’s Degree in a relevant field plus 5 years of related experience.
OR
HS Diploma plus 10 years of relevant experience supporting or managing safety programs in an industrial setting.
Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
