A prominent litigation law firm located in Century City, focusing on business, entertainment, employment, intellectual property, and real estate, is seeking an experienced Legal Billing Coordinator.
This is not a general accounting or corporate billing position - candidates must have direct, hands-on experience billing for a law firm to be considered. You must understand the intricacies of legal billing processes and client guidelines.
Essential Job Functions
- Accurately process a high volume of monthly legal bills, including complex arrangements (e.g., contingency, split-party, and flat-fee billing).
- Enter attorney time, costs, and other expenses to ensure timely capture and submission.
- Review and edit pre-bills per attorney or client-specific instructions.
- Maintain detailed, accurate client and billing instruction records.
- Work closely with attorneys, assistants, and clients to resolve billing inquiries and ensure timely payments.
- Open new client/matter accounts and conduct conflict checks.
- Assist with special billing projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of full-cycle legal billing experience in a law firm environment - general accounting or corporate billing experience will not meet the requirements for this role.
- Strong understanding of law firm billing practices, including time entry, e-billing portals, and compliance with client billing guidelines.
- Experience with Finance Core (formerly Coyote Analytics) strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to handle deadlines, multitask effectively, and maintain exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Availability to work overtime, evenings, or weekends when required.
Work Environment
Our firm currently follows a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office presence a minimum of four days per week, with one optional remote day (subject to change).
Compensation
Base Salary Range: $80,000 – $95,000
Compensation is commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
