We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven, experienced Loan Officer to join our team. If you have 5 to 10 years of experience as a loan officer, this may be your opportunity to grow your career as our bank grows.
To be considered for the role, you should have commercial lending experience in the Northern New Jersey market and proven expertise in cultivating new business, maintaining client relationships, and assisting qualified commercial loan applicants through the loan process to help them achieve their financial goals.
Responsibilities
- Source new commercial loan opportunities by prospecting and networking with centers of influence, business referral sources, industry groups, and professional organizations.
- Handle consumer loan requests as they arise.
- Promote profitable loan portfolio growth, portfolio credit quality, and superior customer service and responsiveness.
- Perform deposit gathering in addition to loan production, as well as cross-selling other Bank products.
- Participate in the day-to-day credit process, including credit write-ups, customer inquiries, and deal structures. Gather financial information, prepare loan proposals, and manage several aspects of the underwriting function, including detailed financial analysis and assessment of the borrower's financial capacity and creditworthiness.
- Assess lending risks, identify mitigants, and make recommendations on loan structure, demonstrating sound credit judgment.
- Present loan requests to the Bank’s Loan Committee.
- Participate in the closing of the loan transactions with strict compliance with approved terms and conditions.
- Monitor the quality of existing accounts and perform all duties required for ongoing portfolio management, including, but not limited to, collecting financial information in accordance with the reporting requirements for each loan.
- Keep abreast of loan and deposit product development, market conditions, the competition, and regulations and legislation that directly affect the Bank.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Bank’s internal policies and all regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree.
Experience
- Five to ten years of commercial lending experience in the Northern New Jersey market.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Good organizational and sales skills to facilitate and cultivate leads.
- Proven new business development track record.
- Capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of various financing options.
- Credit and risk analysis skills are required with a comprehensive understanding of underwriting techniques.
- Proficient with software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
