Responsibilities
- Put together formulas and process them, prepare wet samples, apply them on lab metal, bake them, and test those properties.
- Conduct testing including viscosity, density, weight per gallon, color development, adhesion testing, cure testing, solids, flexibility, and solvent resistance.
- Understand and follow a batch ticket (recipe) with a high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements.
- Perform standard testing procedures, including preparation of materials, with attention to detail and high quality.
- Follow daily work plan for Lab Work Request or project plan.
- Accurately document work in lab notebooks, either physical or electronic.
- Recognize roadblocks or anomalies, resolve them or communicate concerns with a chemist in a timely manner.
- Ensure raw materials are available and correctly labeled.
- Correctly label and mail samples.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and perform equipment calibration and testing procedures as assigned.
- Maintain appropriate levels of housekeeping and 5S organization in the lab.
- Maintain and promote a safe work environment, comply with safety policies and procedures, and follow safe work practices for personal and equipment safety.
Essential Skills
- Experience in Laboratory work, Wet chemistry, and R&D.
- Ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- An AS or BS in Science is preferred.
- Candidates can be non-degreed if they have one year of wet chemistry lab experience.
