Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS) – Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS) for a mission-driven hospice organization. This leadership role oversees all clinical operations, guiding teams to deliver the highest quality of care with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Position Summary
The DPCS provides strategic and clinical leadership to ensure patients and families receive exceptional end-of-life care. This role works closely with the Executive Director and interdisciplinary teams to maintain compliance, quality standards, and operational excellence across all hospice programs.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate all direct and indirect clinical services provided by hospice staff.
Provide coaching, counseling, and support to Clinical Supervisors, Case Managers, and nursing teams.
Manage staffing, scheduling, and workload distribution to ensure continuity of care.
Oversee patient care planning, documentation, and compliance with all regulatory standards.
Assist in the preparation and management of the organization’s budget.
Analyze census trends and operational data to adjust staffing and service levels.
Lead performance evaluations and professional development for clinical staff.
Ensure proper maintenance of medical records, reports, and documentation.
Develop and lead orientation, in-service, and continuing education programs.
Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and policy development.
Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal hospice regulations.
Act as Executive Director in their absence, as designated.
Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred (leadership experience may substitute).
Minimum one (1) year of management experience , hospice or healthcare preferred.
Strong knowledge of hospice regulations, compliance, and CHAP standards.
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor interdisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
