Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design and support of all mechanical components in a robotic welding cell including tooling, machine design, and system integration. Beginning with the quoting phase and continuing through design, assembly, and field support, the M.E. works to ensure customer needs are met and company goals are achieved by developing mechanical designs that are practical, robust, and adhere to budget and schedule constraints. Standard and reusable designs are developed as well as custom projects specific equipment. Communication and coordination with other engineers, customers, project managers, the purchasing department, vendors, and assembly personnel is essential.

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing the Lead Mechanical Engineer with the ongoing status of assigned engineering projects. The person in this position must facilitate the team concept.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred; bachelors degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Entry Level: 1 year experience minimum
  • SolidWorks 3D modeling software
  • Drafting standards including GD&T
  • Knowledge of welding, machining, and other fabrication processes
  • Engineering analysis including F.E.A. and frequency analysis
  • Written and verbal communication with customers, vendors, engineers, assembly personnel, and management
  • Design for manufacture
  • Machine design
  • Good communication and organizational skills required
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed; travel is occasional
Qualifications Desired
  • Pneumatic/hydraulic system design
  • Cost and schedule estimation
  • Mechanical assembly and troubleshooting
  • Robot programming or other automation experience
  • One years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
