We're currently seeking a highly motivated Cost Estimator V located in Los Angeles, CA .
Required Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
- Certifications required may include PMP, PE, and/or any other relevant Professional Licensure or certification. Required to have certified estimating professional credentials
Required Qualifications:
In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.
- Previous experience with public airport projects or large-Scale Projects
- Proficient with large-scale estimating software
- 20 years or more of general estimating experience directly related to both engineering and construction projects. Has demonstratable specialized experience/area of expertise.
- Previous experience managing a small estimating department is desirable
- Experience as a conceptual estimator is desirable
- Electrical or Mechanical Estimating ability is desirable
- Demonstrated proficiency in estimating formats, including Uniformat II
- Proficient with industry estimating databases and other estimating data sources, e.g. RS Means, Richardsons, etc.
- Proficient with large-scale estimating software
- Experience with Design- Build and CMAR delivery
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-starter with proven results-oriented focus
- Demonstrates a proactive, firm, and respectful approach to estimate reconciliation efforts and change order processing
- Establish a personable but contractual stance with the contractor
- Has demonstratable specialized experience/area of expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Develop conceptual and detailed estimates for various scopes of work.
- Direct and manage other estimators/estimating teams as needed; Train subordinate estimating personnel as needed.
- Review construction and design cost proposals and change order requests - assist with the determination of
merit.
- Review the labor rates and markups to ensure conformance to the contract
specifications.
- Review quantities and labor productivity to ensure fair and reasonable representation of scope
- Review the material pricing and validate against R.S. Means for other pricing
references.
- Review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes.
- Establish basis of the owner's acceptance or rejection of proposals and develop records of negotiation
reconcile contractor, internal and third-party estimates.
- Proactively establish a routine reporting cycle that clearly communicates when an estimate changes and
why.
- Accumulate, evaluate and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates.
- Provide coordination and liaison with project management personnel and other estimating resources throughout the estimate development.
- Provide accuracy, reliability and completeness in all work products.
Salary:
- $215,000.00 - $226,000.00 annually
Bonus Pay:
A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management's discretion.
