Maintenance Supervisor
Position Overview:
The Maintenance Supervisor leads a team of skilled technicians in performing electrical and mechanical maintenance to ensure the efficiency and reliability of manufacturing operations. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership abilities, and a proactive approach to preventive and corrective maintenance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy manufacturing, electrical expertise at a journeyman level, and the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities: Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance:
- Utilize testing equipment such as ammeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to diagnose electrical and mechanical issues.
- Maintain, repair, and replace wiring, fuses, contactors, relays, circuit breakers, switches, and other electrical components.
- Use hand and power tools, including conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, hacksaws, wire strippers, drills, and saws for maintenance tasks.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential equipment issues before failures occur.
- Repair motors, transformers, generators, and industrial robotics control systems.
- Respond promptly to facility emergencies and breakdowns, minimizing downtime.
- Implement and enforce lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Technical Expertise:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures using electrical and mechanical knowledge.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and the National Electrical Code to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Work with high-voltage systems (240V, 400V 3-phase) and oversee the maintenance of facility electrical systems, including HVAC.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Supervise and direct maintenance personnel, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
- Provide hands-on training and mentorship to junior employees to develop departmental expertise.
- Collaborate with Electronic Technicians and Electrical Engineers to resolve complex technical issues.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure completion of maintenance projects in alignment with production goals.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in heavy manufacturing maintenance.
- Electrical expertise equivalent to a journeyman certification.
- Strong mechanical knowledge, ideally at a journeyman level.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting motors, transformers, and industrial robotics.
- Extensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code and relevant safety regulations.
