Job Title: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Sharon, CT
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours/week
Shift: Nights – 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, Every Other Weekend Required
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week contract assignment at a 78-bed general hospital in Connecticut. This role involves comprehensive care for patients in the LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum) setting, including couplet care and low-risk antepartum, as well as attending all deliveries and supporting the transition nursery.
This is a 48-hour/week assignment, ideal for RNs who thrive in fast-paced environments and want to make a meaningful impact in maternal and newborn care.
Core Responsibilities:
Provide care to patients during labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum periods.
Perform newborn transition assessments and care in the nursery.
Monitor fetal well-being, interpret fetal monitoring strips, and intervene as appropriate.
Support and educate patients and families throughout childbirth and postpartum.
Attend all deliveries and manage obstetric emergencies in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Occasionally float (no patient assignment) to Med/Surg or Senior Behavioral Health for brief 2-hour rotations as helping hands.
Requirements:
Required Certifications & Licensure:
Active Connecticut RN License
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Fetal Monitoring training/certification
Required Experience:
Minimum 2 years of recent experience in LDRP or Labor & Delivery
Preferred Qualifications:
C-EFM (Certified in Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
STABLE Program Certification
Shift Details:
Shift Time: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Schedule: 48 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Float Requirement: Yes, as "helping hands" only – no patient assignment; rotates every 2 hours to Med/Surg or Senior Behavioral Health as needed
