Optical Technician

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) - NSU Health is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Optical Technician to join our dynamic team. This role supports our Opticians, Optometrists, students, and patients by providing high-quality optical services and administrative support. Key Responsibilities

• Create patient eyewear orders in NextGen Optik, ensuring accurate frame, lens, and option selections for optimal vision and comfort.

• Measure, fit, repair, and adjust eyewear to achieve high patient satisfaction.

• Dispense completed eyewear and educate patients on proper use and care.

• Obtain insurance authorizations and file claims in a timely, accurate manner.

• Maintain frame inventory, assist with year-end reporting, and reduce shrinkage.

• Merchandise frame displays to maximize visibility and sales.

• Ensure a clean, organized, and professional workstation.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• At least 6 months of customer service experience.

• Knowledge of optical dispensary techniques, materials, and operations.

• Strong administrative and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.

• Effective written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow instructions accurately.

• Reliable, proactive, and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (English/Spanish).

• Prior experience in the optical field.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Manual dexterity to perform eyewear repairs.

• Ability to climb, bend, lift (10+ lbs.), and carry supplies.

• Comfort working in both sitting and standing roles.

• May require evening or weekend hours.
