The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our startup 3PL facility, focusing on labor management, warehouse efficiency, safety, and performance metrics. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role will be instrumental in establishing internal processes, building a capable team, and ensuring the facility operates at peak efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Setup & Process Building – Establish workflows, performance metrics, and best practices to create a solid foundation for the 3PL operation.
- Labor & Resource Management – Balance labor availability against volume demands; oversee scheduling, staffing, and daily workforce allocation.
- Team Leadership & Development – Recruit, train, and mentor staff; promote cross-training and succession planning for future growth.
- Performance Tracking – Monitor KPIs in safety, quality, inventory accuracy, and productivity; develop corrective actions to meet objectives.
- Budget & Expense Oversight – Manage daily operational expenses and assist the Supply Chain Manager with budgeting and forecasting.
- Continuous Improvement – Drive initiatives that streamline workflows, standardize processes, and prepare the startup for scalable growth.
- Reporting & Documentation – Ensure timely, accurate reporting on operational performance and maintain all necessary records.
- Culture & Safety – Promote a safe, clean, and organized facility while fostering a culture of accountability and improvement.
- Special Projects – Lead and support startup-related initiatives as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.
Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of operational leadership in logistics, warehousing, or 3PL environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field OR equivalent hands-on operations experience.
- Experience in start-up or high-growth operations, with the ability to build processes and teams from scratch a plus.
- Inventory and/or quality management in a food environment helpful.
- Hands-on, practical leadership style with strong communication and team-building skills.
- Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), RF applications, Microsoft Office Suite, with emphsis on Excel.
- APICS certification and Lean/Six Sigma knowledge a plus.
