We are in search of a diligent, dependable, and committed individual to join our team as a Part-Time Estimator. This position is an hourly role, up to 24 hours per week, with flexibility to support both preconstruction and active projects.

Role Description

The Estimator will support the preconstruction and estimating process for commercial construction projects. This position is client-facing during the bid phase and requires a professional, confident communicator who can represent our company in meetings, site visits, and proposal discussions. Key responsibilities include reviewing drawings, compiling subcontractor/vendor pricing, organizing bid packages, and preparing proposals. The Estimator will work closely with the Managing Member and Operations to provide accurate cost information that ensures successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Review design drawings, specifications, and related documents to develop estimates and proposals.

  • Communicate directly with clients during the bid phase to clarify scope, answer questions, and build confidence in our company's process.

  • Solicit and compile subcontractor and vendor pricing to ensure complete scope coverage.

  • Plan and attend site visits with clients and subcontractors; use visits to refine project scope and gather bid details.

  • Evaluate proposals for accuracy, scope completeness, and potential gaps or overlaps.

  • Develop scopes of work for subcontractors.

  • Prepare polished proposals for clients, with review by Managing Member and/or Operations prior to submission.

  • Develop of budgets, estimates, and value-engineering options.

  • Organize and support value engineering and subcontractor re-bidding as needed.

  • Notify subcontractors of bid results when our company is not awarded or when alternate subcontractors are selected.

  • Develop preliminary project schedules in Microsoft Project.

  • Conduct turnover meetings with the Project Managers and Superintendents once projects are awarded, including an organized estimating file of subcontractor proposals, notes, and other supporting documents.

  • Maintain historical cost data and subcontractor/vendor pricing database.

  • Communicate effectively with internal team members, subcontractors, and vendors.

  • Perform other related duties as needed to support the preconstruction and estimating process.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial construction estimating experience preferred.

  • Professional presence and ability to communicate clearly with clients, architects, and subcontractors.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented.
