Position OverviewThe Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Staff Assistant to the Assistant Chief of the Office of Child and Family Policy. Under general direction, this position will conduct historical research of the Department's administrative rules, policy, and procedures. The position will carry out special assignments and will confer with management staff to identify operational problems and make recommendations for the development of solutions. This position will also coordinate Department-wide electronic distribution of administrative rules, policy, and procedures. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is detail oriented and interested in playing a supportive role in the agency's operations. Essential Functions- Serves as Staff Assistant to the Assistant Chief of the Office of Child and Family Policy (OCFP)
- Coordinates Department-wide electronic distribution of administrative rules, policy, and procedures
- Facilitates the forms process
- Responds to inquiries received in the Office of Child and Family Policy online mailbox by providing staff and the public with timely and accurate DCFS policy information or by referring the inquiry to other Department staff who can knowledgeably respond to their inquiries
- Serves as liaison to the Index Department of the Secretary of State and to the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) for purposes of filing documents
- Serves as backup timekeeper for OCFP
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration
- Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
- 2 years of experience working in an administrative capacity for a social service agency
- 2 years of experience serving as an administrative assistant in a public or business organization
- 2 years of professional experience coordinating work groups/committees and organizing office meetings in a public or business organization
- 2 years of professional experience serving in a liaison capacity for a public or business organization
- 2 years of professional experience conducting research and carrying out special assignments in a public or business organization
- Requires the ability to pass a background check
