STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Annual Hiring Salary Range: $63,000 -- $70,000
We are pleased to announce that Five Rivers Bank, a recently opened de novo bank located in Northern New Jersey, is already growing. We have the need for a new Staff Accountant. If you have 1 – 3 years of recent experience as a Staff Accountant in banking or financial services, this position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with the Chief Financial Officer, gaining exposure to all areas of financial management within a growing de novo bank. The Staff Accountant will play an important role in supporting the Bank’s accounting operations by assisting with daily reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and contributing to the month-end close process.
The Staff Accountant’s Key Responsibilities:
- Performs daily account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data between core banking systems and the general ledger
- Prepares and posts routine journal entries for revenue, expenses, and balance sheet accounts
- Assists with the month-end close process, including reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting entries
- Supports the preparation of internal financial reports and schedules for CFO review
- Compiles documentation and supports audit and regulatory reporting requirements
- Assists in maintaining internal controls and compliance with accounting policies
- Partners with internal teams to research and resolves variances or discrepancies
- Contributes to process improvement initiatives that streamlines accounting workflows
- Monitors accounts payable activity to ensure proper coding and timely posting of invoices
To qualify for this role, you must have the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience (banking or financial services preferred)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUPs)
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
