CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Deputy Director, Legal Operations classification is to assist the Director of Legal Operations with implementation, management, supervision, and evaluation of all of the organization's programs and divisional operations. JOB DUTIES: Assists the Director of Operations with managing the day-to-day work of legal division management and operations staff. Advises the Director of Operations on developing division policies and operations procedures. Researches, analyzes, and troubleshoots daily workflows and office procedures, and provides recommendations for improvement. Helps translate agency, division, and justice partner goals and priorities into strategic plans. Assists the Director with operating budget planning and management. Assists with the development and implementation of special projects. Facilitates meetings with justice partners in the absence of the Director. Provides leadership guidance and training to division management. Responsible for the development of training plans, technical manuals, and the training of new employees. Works with vendors, justice partners, and in-house staff for the resolution of problems. Prepares technical reports and provides regular status updates to the Director. Supports the management of office telecommunications, mail operations, and key logs. Develops and reviews audit materials to ensure accurate and timely performance. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. These duties are illustrative only and you may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned. Skill in word processing; equipment operation; communicating to diverse audiences, both orally and in writing. Ability to recognize unusual or threatening conditions & take appropriate action; deal with a variety of variables in somewhat unfamiliar context; interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, picture or schedule form; define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers; complete routine forms; maintain accurate records; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; establish friendly atmosphere as supervisor of work unit; handle sensitive inquiries from & contacts with officials & general public; resolve complaints from angry citizens & government officials; approach work duties with a high level of professionalism. MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT: Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related field with four (4) years of business administration, public administration, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Additional Requirements No special license or certification is required. Supervisory Responsibilities Ability to assign, review, plan, and coordinate the work of other employees, to provide instruction to other employees, to maintain department standards, to recommend the discipline or discharge of other employees, to act on employee problems, to evaluate staff performance, to maintain staff timekeeping, and to recommend and approve the transfer, promotion, or salary increase of other employees. UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: This is an unclassified position that serves at the pleasure of the Clerk of Courts. May need to travel to meetings, training sessions, or other work-related appointments.
