Part Time Gymnastics Instructor

Position Summary

The Buckley School, an all boys K-8 + Academy Year day school located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, is seeking a dedicated and passionate part-time gymnastics instructor.

The instructor will develop individualized lesson plans that foster physical skills while encouraging a love for the sport of gymnastics. The role is focused on cultivating a positive atmosphere where students can thrive and enjoy a sense of accomplishment.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of gymnastics skill progressions which includes coaching and spotting experience

Experience teaching beginner to intermediate gymnastics to children 5-15 years of age.

Experience developing age-appropriate lesson plans, focusing on skill-building and safety.

Ability to incorporate fun and engaging activities to enhance learning and retention while encouraging teamwork.

Experience monitoring children's progress and providing constructive feedback to help students achieve their goals.

Experience managing classes up to 15 students, providing individualized attention where needed.

Key Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage groups of varying skill levels.

Knowledge of gymnastics techniques and safety practices in all six men’s events.

Patient, approachable, and motivated to inspire students.

Requirements

2 years of experience teaching children and teens

USA Gymnastics Safety Certification

CPR/First Aid Training (or willing to obtain)

Physical requirements involve lifting and carrying gym equipment, assisting athletes (potentially up to 120 pounds), standing for extended periods, running, jumping, and being physically active.

Availability

Part time position beginning September 15 and ending Friday May 29, 2026 , with the possibility of renewal.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 4:45 - 6:15 PM

Friday 1-5 PM
