Chemical Operator- $25-30/hr Job Description The primary role of the B Operator is to master all functions of the Bulk Material Handler and Scale House Operator positions as part of the operator training program. This enables a seamless transition into operations once a position becomes available. The Bulk Material Handler is responsible for performing sampling, monitoring, and loading/unloading incoming trucks and railcars, monitoring tank levels, and conducting material transfers within the tank farm daily. The position also requires functioning as a scale house operator when necessary. The refinery operates 24/7, requiring work during nights, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities Perform sampling, monitoring, and loading/unloading of incoming trucks and railcars. Monitor tank levels and conduct material transfers within the tank farm. Function as a scale house operator as needed. Understand and troubleshoot basic pump operation, including cavitation, seal leaks, and vibration. Use basic tools such as pipe wrenches, crowbars, pliers, and screwdrivers. Conduct scale operations. Perform general clerical duties, including answering phones, operating copy/fax machines, data entry, and paperwork compilation. Monitor and respond to assigned company email for work schedules, instructions, and production updates. Learn plant operations and perform basic maintenance as requested. Essential Skills 1+ years of chemical operation experience. Ability to lift 60 lbs. Good written and verbal communication skills. Basic familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel. Ability to calculate levels in tanks using basic math. Additional Skills & Qualifications Heavy equipment operation experience. Construction Quality experience. General labor skills. Forklift operation. Mechanical inclination. Why Work Here? The role requires working outdoors for the entire shift while wearing protective gear, including a hard hat, safety glasses, FR clothing, and safety-toe shoes. At times, a full-face respirator may be necessary. The work environment can occasionally be dusty with limited chemical exposure. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, Ohio. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
