- Collect topographic field data for survey preparation using surveying equipment and software.
- Effectively utilize maps, drawings, plans, and aerial photographs to assess project requirements.
- Assist in recovering survey control and monumentation, construction layout, obtaining invert and subsurface utility information, and photo documentation.
- Apply knowledge and techniques of surveying and advanced mathematics.
- Maintain survey equipment and initiate repairs when necessary.
- Stay current on surveying practices, guidelines, and best practices.
- Research project documentation, deeds, and plats. Set up project binders, download data, and perform other office tasks.
- Prepare drawings and maps using Carlson Survey, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of experience leading survey crews in the field.
- Prior experience with topographic, ALTA, transportation, and/or boundary surveys.
- Ability to operate total station, data collectors, robotic, and GPS equipment.
- Proficiency in Carlson Survey, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Survey, engineering, or related degree is a plus but not required.
Work Environment This position involves primarily fieldwork, with occasional office tasks. Projects are predominantly located in central Ohio, mostly within the 270 area. The survey group encompasses builder services, commercial site development, land development, utility/infrastructure work, and small projects such as boundary surveys and lot splits.
