Essential Functions
Provides direct patient care using the nursing process and supports unit coordination activities to promote safe, high-quality outcomes. Serves as a resource to staff and assists with scheduling, education, and performance initiatives. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
- Coordinates staff scheduling, educational/development activities, and performance evaluations.
- Identifies and resolves issues affecting delivery of clinical services and patient flow.
- Performs quality assurance studies and assists with implementation of QA/QI initiatives.
- Serves as a resource to staff and external contacts regarding clinical standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitors departmental compliance with accreditation, legal, and The Joint Commission requirements.
- Provides direct patient care as needed in accordance with scope and standards of practice.
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
- Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Licensure/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred; Handle with Care preferred. Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments. Proficiency navigating multiple clinical software systems. Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand). Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
